Ancestry & Etymology Andrew Antaro is a multigenerational Canadian, but his ancestry is European. His most distant descendants are Greek, while his more recent descendants are British and Scottish. His last name is pronounced “Ann” - “Tare” - “Row”. It is a variation of the Greek name “Antero,” which means, "man, warrior". His first name “Andrew” is Scottish. Its origins, however, are the Greek word “Andros”, which means "strong, manly and courageous." Past & Present Residences Andrew Antaro was born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. He lived there until August 31, 1981 when he moved to his present address in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. For work purposes, he also spent a year in Edmonton, Alberta, six months in Red Deer, Alberta, and a month in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Education & Personal Development In the summer of 1991, as a teenager, Andrew Antaro completed the “Effective Speaking and Human Relations Course” conducted by Dale Carnegie Courses. It was a three-month program, which taught and tested communication and human relations skills. Despite being the youngest participant, Andrew won the prestigious “Highest Award for Achievement.” He also received an “Outstanding Performance Award,” “Personal Progress Award,” and “Special Recognition for 100% Attendance.” Andrew Antaro graduated from the Faculty of Management (a.k.a. Haskayne School of Business) in The University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm) business degree in 1995. During that time, he was a highly active member of the public speaking and leadership organization Toastmasters International (TI). From 1991 to 1995, Andrew held several executive positions with Toastmasters going as high as Area Governor, as well as, earning an Advance Toastmaster Silver and many other awards and certifications. From June 6 to 8, 1998, Andrew participated in an intense, three-day role playing session that taught principle centered leadership skills through experiential-learning. Career & Entrepreneurship After U of C, Andrew Antaro dared entrepreneurship and launched himself as a Marketing Consultant and Professional “Persuasive” Writer on September 1, 1991. A decade later, his business Marketing Marksman was incorporated in Canada on July 18, 2002. Originally, Andrew marketed his services by performing speeches and networking at many clubs, associations, and professional organizations throughout Calgary.
